Profile, Lucy Emory Hendricks

Lucy Emory Hendricks is the founder of Legacy Interiors. Prior to opening Legacy Interiors, Lucy started her career in the outdoor furniture industry in 1989 where she gained extensive knowledge of outdoor furnishings and fabrics. Lucy became a buyer for one of the South’s largest outdoor companies and developed a large clientele of customers who came to rely upon her expertise and advice in the design and installation of their outdoor furniture living areas.

This led to work in other cities and states as Lucy’s growing clientele of professional business clients asked her to design outdoor living spaces and arrange for installation of their various homes and residences. She then began expanding her array of talents and skills to encompass a full range of interior and exterior services.

Lucy’s attention to detail and her sharp eye for all things beautiful have allowed her to build a special bond with each of her customers. Further, her strong work ethic and dedication to meet her commitments and deadlines, contributes strongly to her success that she has earned in interior and exterior design, and continues to earn her numerous accolades, as well as a growing roster of discerning customers. She has been a consistent first place winner in the Parade of Homes in the Carolina’s and has established a well-earned reputation in some of the most exclusive communities in the Southeast. She has been asked to lecture and present programs on design issues and topics, as well as host area seminars.

Her co-workers think that it’s no accident that she follow in the footsteps of her dedicated, hard-working father Coach Ed Emory of college and high school coaching fame. They tease her that if she had been a boy, she would certainly have been a Heisman trophy winner. She has seen and done it all – from buying and installing the most personal items for clients (everything but the toothbrush, as she likes to say) – Lucy’s clients love her caring and kind demeanor as well as her straight talking honesty.

She truly feels that the more that she understands her customers and their lifestyle, the better that she is able to transform their living environment, indoors and outdoors, into a place that not only reflects who they are, but allows them a beautiful space to live in and celebrate and enjoy both the small moments in life, as well as the momentous one.

Lucy and her husband Steve have a daughter, Allison Lauren Bowman. She volunteers with various charities throughout the Carolinas.
